The Saint-Malo is en route to Europe and is expected to arrive at its home port by the end of the year, entering service on February 12, 2025.
Like four of the five E-Flexer vessels Stena RoRo is delivering to Brittany Ferries, the Saint-Malo will be powered by state-of-the-art multi-fuel engines and the market’s largest battery-hybrid package—an impressive 12 MWh. This cutting-edge technology allows the ship to operate in and out of port solely on battery power, as well as maneuver during docking and departure without the use of diesel engines.
This unique technical solution significantly reduces CO2 emissions, promoting a more sustainable maritime industry. Additionally, the Saint-Malo is equipped with a shore connection capable of 8 MW for high-speed battery charging, ensuring a completely fossil-free stay in port. With its substantial battery capacity, the vessel can maintain speeds of up to 17.5 knots using only battery power.
