Exhibitor Spotlight: Comark

Last year’s AntwerpXL took place on 28th-30th November at the Antwerp Expo. Whilst on site, journalist Molly Cooper spoke to Klemen Butala, commercial director at Comark.

Comark Project Logistics has its headquarters in Slovenia and its offices operate in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, covering the ex-Yugoslavia market in project cargo.

ADDRESSING ISSUES IN THE SECTOR

Being an exhibitor at AntwerpXL means that you are addressing the issues within project cargo and Comark are solving the extra-large issues in the sector and within the government and defence business. ‘We are moving everything that’s big. We don’t do any standard cargo, this makes us specialised in the big moves,’ says Butala.

Before Comark, the moving of extra-large cargo was missing in the Balkan territory, there was no specialised company who could do this. ‘We work as the extended camp for big forwarders in this territory, to move their cargo here, as we have the knowledge in house for road transport and multimodal transport. We do also export packaging, so we can do the whole package for project cargo under one roof with our team of 35,’ he explains.  

BIGGEST PROJECT OF 2023

In 2023, Comark executed one of its biggest projects with an exporter from Slovenia, which is something that the company is extremely proud of.
‘We moved four, 200 tonnes, of cargo from Slovenia to Vietnam via our local Port of Koper. This was quite a gigantic project for us. We also did the packaging, which included around 100 wooden boxes of extra equipment. We then did the surveying input of cooperation in Vietnam. It was a very successful project – without any damages and with happy customers,’ says Butala.

Butala knows that Comark are keeping up with the current market, despite the reports that the market is cooling down. ‘In this project business, we don’t know what will we will be doing next month. Because when the market is growing, we are moving new equipment. When the market is slowing down, we are moving old equipment – but the project will be always moving. Companies will always move,’ he says. Butala isn’t afraid of any changes that may lie ahead as he believes with Comarks knowledge and people that the next year will be even better for the company.

BEING AT ANTWERPXL

Comark attended AntwerpXL with a few members of its team and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere of the show. ‘It’s very nice and very well organised. We’ve have had lots of time to speak with clients more personally this year and make time for them. We can’t wait to be back next year!.’
